Bahamas Yacht Charters

The Bahamas are world renowned for their crystal clear waters and myriad of wonderful islands with white sands and amazing marine life. Its a place of serenity and tranquility and the only real way to explore the Bahamas is by a yacht charter or to hire a boat so that you explore this island paradise.

Bahamas Yacht Charters offer an escape into a world of serenity and peace away from the crowds and if you choose immersed in a world of isolation. One of the most popular destinations are the Exumas island chain which consists of over 365 islands of Cays the largest being Great Exuma which is around 37 miles long and connected to Little Exuma by bridge.

We recommend crewed Yacht Charters Exumas and Bahamas to have the best experience and benefit from local knowledge and of course take advantage of the best anchorages and conditions.

Some of the best anchorages for Yacht Charter Bahamas and Exumas:

  • Little Pigeon Cay, near Shroud Cay - Yacht Charter / Boat Rental / Anchorage

One of the best anchorages to escape the crowds -  located in the Exumas Land and Sea Park and perfect to explore Shroud Cay. It´s the dream place to use all the toys you have to discover the tidal creeks tucked away from the wind. Paddle boarding here is a must and of course use the RIB to explore the mangroves and head to the west side on the island for the Washing Machine which is almost like a set of rapids created by tides

  • O’Brien’s Cay - Yacht Charter / Boat Rental / Anchorage

This is a tiny uninhabited island that can be busier in the day time as its popular with local day charters and boat hire companies but as the sun goes down there is a good probabillity that you can have the place to your selves. You can moor or anchor here and spend an evening fish watching using your underwater lighting! Once again a highlight here is the diving and the Aquarium offers a great spot to explore underwater wrecks and the diversity of the marine life.

  • North side of Bell’s Cay - Yacht Charter / Boat Rental / Anchorage

Bells Cay is a private island surrounded by wonderful seas offering anchor points that are calm and secluded yet convenient for such points as "Rachel´s Bubble Bath which is a unique thermal spar phenomenon occurring usually in the mornings. There are also some amazing rock formations and caves such as Rocky Dundas that have cathederal like caverns with impressive stalagtites and stalagmites.

  • West side of Pipe Cay - Yacht Charter / Boat Rental / Anchorage

Here we can find a a meeting point of islands such as Joe Cay, Rat Cay, Pipe Cay, Thomas Cay and Little Pipe Cay separated by a channels creeks, sandbanks and a spectrum of blue shades throughout the waters. Its truly a beauty to behold and beyond words. Cruising in this area its always best to have a yacht chartered with experienced crew to help navigate.

  • Sampson Cay - Yacht Charter / Boat Rental / Anchorage

This is a great anchorage for your boat and base to see some of the most famous sights in the Bahamas with Staniel Cay close by where again a sunken plane wreck is a key point of interest. The plane serves as an artificial reef and is a good stop off point enroute to Thunderball Cave named after the James Bond movie.

Next stop would be Big Major Cay where you simply must see the swimming pigs, a postcard image of the region and a great sight to behold. Best always to arrive later in the day after the pigs have been fed as they tend to be calmer.

  • West side of Norman’s Cay - Yacht Charter / Boat Rental / Anchorage

Normans Cay is a small island in the Exumas and if you sail to the west side you will find a sheltered and peaceful anchorage on your yacht charter. You will be ideally located for some spectacular diving sites and yet protected from the wind.

The dive sites will blow you away with crystal clear waters, wonderful corals, turtles gliding serenely through the waters and a plethora of marina life.

From this anchorage you are ideally placed to sail to the Exumas Sandbar and as the tide drops wonderful soft white sands will rise from the warm sea offering you a unique location for walk or beach lunch.

To the south side of Normans Cay you can also find a sunken plane that allegedly belonged to Pablo Escobar!

  • Musha Cay, near Big Farmer’s Cay Yacht Charter / Boat Rental / Anchorage

This is a good example of a location with very shallow waters so be prepared to spend much of the time in the tender to make the most of the crescent shaped bay to the west that has a narrow creek often populated by small sharks.

Musha Cay sandbar trails south of the island and rarely has people so you can find virgin sands and peace to take some time out.

When looking at which yacht is best for you to charter you should talk to us and we can present the best options. Its better to have a yacht with a relatively low draught to take advantage of the shallow waters of the islands and cays and of course ensure a good tender and SUP / toys to explore and enjoy the shallower waters.

Exploring these wonderful islands by boat is an absolute joy once you have been  you will be hooked!
